We understand that the benefits system can be difficult to navigate. Below are some websites which can help you check what you might be entitled to as well as providing more detailed information about particular benefits.
A Benefits Calculator will help you find out what you might be able to claim. If you enter your details, you’ll receive an estimate of your entitlement to benefits, including Universal Credit. There is a link to two benefit calculators below.
The calculators won’t work if you’re under 18 or:
· a student
· not a British or Irish citizen
· on strike
· living outside the UK
· living permanently in residential care or a nursing home
· a prisoner
If any of the above applies to you, please contact one of our welfare team for further advice.
Universal Credit (US) is a monthly payment to help with living costs if you are on a low income or currently out of work. It has replaced benefits including child tax credit, housing benefit, income support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Working Tax Credit.
If you are thinking of applying for Universal Credit as a self-employed person, we would recommend that you speak to one of our Welfare Officers first as the way this benefit works for self-employed people is different.
