From May 13th to May 19th, Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, ABS shone a spotlight on the theme of “Movement: Moving more for our mental health.” Throughout the week, we organised a series of events designed to highlight the importance of physical activity in supporting mental well-being. Here’s a look back at some of the fantastic events and initiatives that took place. We encouraged people and practices to start important conversations about Mental Heath and Wellbeing, and come together to spend time with one another.
Our “Bake The World a Better Place” event was a sweet success! Participants from various practices, organisations, and universities came together to host Bake Off style competitions, cosy cake lunches, and other fun-filled activities. This initiative encouraged teams to take a break, enjoy some delicious baked goods, and raise awareness of the mental health support available through ABS.
A big thank you to all the practices involved, especially Hopkins Architects and Fletcher Priest Architects, our highest fundraising practices!

“This heartwarming event aimed to spark conversations about mental health and break the stigma surrounding it. Our team came together, not just to bake delicious treats, but to support and promote a cause that’s close to our hearts. Let’s continue to support each other and raise awareness about the importance of mental health in our industry and beyond.” Ansell & Bailey
On Wednesday, May 15th, we hosted the “Move for Mental Health” interactive webinar, a highlight of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024. This engaging session, hosted by Bennetts Associates in collaboration with ABS, offered valuable insights into how movement can enhance mental wellbeing.
On Tuesday, May 14th, we held “The Individual Perspective” workshop, another key event during Mental Health Awareness Week 2024. This session focused on common mental health challenges, risk factors, and practical tools for improving mental wellbeing.
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024. Through these events, we raised an impressive nearly £3,000! Thank you to everyone for your generous contributions. Together, we have fostered a community that values and supports mental health and wellbeing.
We are grateful to RIBA, CIAT, the Landscape Institute, Bennetts Associates and GIA for their invaluable support in promoting and organising these events.
