1st Place – Stuart Bertie
Gillian: “Beautiful cinematic quality to this image, the detail in the moon is just incredible. Then you pan to see the person and dog, which adds that certain extra narrative to the image and scale. Also sums up a lot of people’s lockdown- out for their daily walk.”
2nd Place – Lisa Iwanaga

#Pause2Pic is an opportunity for ABS supporters and photography enthusiasts to take part in a photography competition organised by the ABS Scottish Ambassadors to help raise vital funds for the Architects Benevolent Society.
The theme will be based around capturing and representing peoples experience of the current lockdown restrictions. Whether it is pausing to focus on the everyday moments we have become accustom to or highlighting the standout experiences of being in a lockdown, the competition aims to encourage the architectural community to get creative and come together through sharing photos of this unique time.
Photos are invited of places, nature, scenery or things that have lifted your spirits during lockdown, perhaps from daily exercise, essential journeys or even from your window.
Prizes will be awarded to the top entries by our judges Gillian Hayes and Malcolm Cochrane.
Malcolm Cochrane is a corporate and editorial photographer with 25 years professional experience. His client base covers several industries and a wide range of clients including ABS and RIAS.
Gillian Hayes of Dapple Photography specialises in architectural photography and is based in Scotland. Coming from an architectural background she is passionate about architecture and capturing the mood, experience and materials of individual spaces.
Entry is £6 or you can enter two photos for £10. Unwaged or student price is £3.50 an entry. All proceeds will go towards supporting the work of the Architects Benevolent Society and helping those in need.
All entries must be submitted by the 30th April 2021. There will be a panel of judges to award prizes for their favourite entries which will also be featured on the ABS website. File sizes should be a max 1MB.
The use of Photoshop or image filters are not permitted, and participants are advised to follow all government lockdown regulations while taking part in this event.
