I am a Senior Project Architect for Mace’s consultancy business, specialising in government estates, offices, residential and mixed-use projects. My particular focus is looking at mental health and well-being considerations while designing, and how these would cater for end users.
I have also spent over 10+ years delivering workshops and lectures at universities, industry events and conventions about the importance of mental health support while sharing my story about how ABS helped with past encounters with anxiety. I have been a former Trustee for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust (now called Blueprint for All), a former member of the RIBA’s Architects for Change Advisory Board and the co-founder and former co-Chair of Mace’s Ethnic Diversity Inclusion Network (EDIN).
I have previously been shortlisted for two London Construction Week awards in 2019, UK Construction Week Role Model 2020. I have also been the recipient of the Stephen Lawrence Outstanding Contribution Award in 2016 and the Room to Reward Hidden Heroes Award in 2020 (the latter nominated by ABS).
Having used ABS services myself to help battle my mental health demons, I have found it incredibly useful and life-changing and want to be able to give something back so that others are aware of what they do. Being an ambassador means a great deal as I realise there is an issue and stigma within the architecture and wider construction industry, with so many people either not being brave enough to speak about mental health or not getting the support quick enough.
