Fundraising & Senior leadership Team

Our fundraising team’s aim is to increase understanding and support within the profession – and raise the vital funds required to help members of the wider architectural profession, and their families, in times of need.

Their goal is to create long-term sustainability for the Society and increase donations from individuals and practices. They love to keep our supporters up to date with how their money is being used and show them how their generosity helps rebuild lives.

The Team Members:

  •   Operations manager
  •   External Relations Manager

Katie Vivian Operations Manager –

"I joined the ABS as External Relations Manager in January 2016. My background is in supported employment, specialising in autism, and Business Development for a social enterprise which involved generating income through contracts and grants, and service development. Joining the ABS has given me a chance to apply my knowledge and skills in a new field to drive through the new fundraising strategy. I see this as an exciting opportunity, as I strongly believe in the support provided by the ABS. Outside of work, my two young daughters keep me busy. I also enjoy being creative, especially making celebration cakes for family and friends!"

Mark Thomas  External Relations Manager –

"I joined as the Stewardship Officer at the Society back in March 2014.  I have over a decade of experience in Donor Care within the charity sector and I also volunteer for local charities.  My role sits with the Fundraising team and is focused on communicating the work of the Society to new and existing supporters to promote engagement and retention.  My goal is to ensure that our supporters are cared for, looked after and feel valued."

Robert Ball – Chief Executive

"I joined the ABS in 2001 as our Finance & Property Manager and became Chief Executive in February 2013. I previously worked for Upkeep, a charity providing building maintenance training courses. My principle goals as Chief Executive are to ensure that the Society is fit for purpose both now and in the future and continues to improve on the quality and range of services it provides to the wider architectural profession."

Mimi Tesfaye – Finance Officer

"I joined the Society in January 2016 as the Finance Officer. My role involves managing the accounts and processing the invoices. I have worked in the charity sector for thirteen years before I joined the ABS. Here, I work part time hours and am usually in Monday - Thursday (10am - 3pm). "

Angela Muhammad – Admin & Property Officer
"I began working with the ABS in February 2013.  My role includes managing our property at Portland Place, monitoring the ABS Help Desk and general office management.  I work part time hours, Monday – Thursday (9:30am - 2:30pm) which works well around family commitments.  I’m one of your first points of contact should you require assistance."
