In an inspiring show of dedication and generosity, Christopher Stewart has embarked on a fundraising campaign to support Architects Benevolent Society. Through his JustGiving page, Christopher is not only raising significant funds but also awareness for the invaluable work that ABS does for the architectural community.
Christopher’s commitment to this cause is deeply personal. As someone who understands the pressures and challenges faced by architects, particularly during times of crisis, he has taken it upon himself to make a difference. His fundraising efforts are a testament to his compassion and community spirit.
On July 17, 2024, Christopher Stewart will undertake the challenging climb of Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia, to raise funds for the Architects Benevolent Society. This climb marks the conclusion of his term as President of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, which began in July 2022 with a successful fundraising climb of Mount Olympus, raising over £2000 for the same cause.
In the lead-up to the Triglav climb, Christopher will visit the Partisan Necropolis in Bosnia to raise awareness of this significant national monument and support a documentary by BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Chris Leslie. The Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar, designed by renowned architect Bogdan Bogdanovic between 1959 and 1965, honors those who died fighting as Yugoslav Partisans against Nazi Germany in WWII. Christopher’s journey through the Balkans will culminate in his meeting with the Highland Walking Society, who will lead the climb of Triglav.
