A message from Dr Geoffrey Purves, ABS Chair

Having been appointed Chair of the Society in June 2015, I am looking to help lead the organisation over the next few years during a period when there are likely to be many challenges, not least the economic uncertainly of the current time and what this will mean for those who are struggling financially due to reasons such as illness, redundancy and other personal difficulties. But we think there are also many opportunities; we want to look at how we currently help members of the wider architectural profession and how the challenges faced by them can best be met, over and above the very significant assistance the Society already provides.

Combined with the increased focus on raising  awareness of the Society's work within the wider profession, we want to continue to work towards ever closer links with the RIBA, CIAT, Landscape Institute, ARB, WCCA and the other professional bodies who represent the profession. In particular we want to engage with you, the members of those bodies, and we will be doing all we can to ensure that when anyone falls on hard times they know they can come to us for help.
